SAILING LESSONS WITH ARISTA
Learn from the beginning or fine tune your skills with a professional, licensed mariner and seasoned sailing instructor.
Arista Holden has been teaching sailing since she was an early teen for clubs, organizations, and privately including the Rockport Boat Club, Outward Bound, NOLS, the Wooden Boat School, Nova Scotia Sea School, Morse Alpha Expeditions, and Atlantic Challenge USA. She holds a 100-ton Masters USCG license, Wilderness First Responder, and CPR certifications.
Her style is to empower you to manage your boat in a variety of conditions. She will give you the time and space you need to try new skills or refresh old ones, make safe mistakes, fill in any knowledge gaps to achieve your sailing goals, and increase your confidence in boat handling.
Lessons can be focused on any number of skill sets:
Arista is experienced sailing a diversity of boats including: a Norseman 447, a 46 ft K. Aage Nielsen-designed sloop, a 41 Concordia yawl, a 33 ft Ericson, a Bristol 41, Haven and Herreshoff 12.5s, 21 ft Drascombe longboats, 19 ft Cape Dory Typhoons, and a variety of traditional boats sizes 18 - 46ft including Friendship sloops, catboats, Viking boats, schooners, lateen rigged, dipping lug rigged yawls, sprit rigged ketches, and gaff rigged boats.
She can come aboard your boat, or you can sail with her aboard her 18 ft traditional Newfoundland skiff, 19 ft Lightning, or 21 ft Drascombe longboat in Belfast, Maine.
Lesson Fees:
$85 per hour. Recommended 2-3 hour minimum.
$700 per day for overnight, multi-day trips.
